Early Life and Education
Mitchell Coles was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn Wood High School, excelling in leadership and music, playing trumpet from 5th grade through college. In high school, Coles was active in Student Government, FBLA, Mock Trial, and served as drum major for the PWHS Marching Band. He played in the Penn State Blue Band, the Pride of West Virginia Marching Band, and performed with the Cadets of Bergen County DCI drum corps.
Coles pursued studies in Culinary Arts, Finance, International Business, Business Administration, and Law, earning multiple degrees, including an MBA and a Juris Doctorate.
As a versatile performer, Coles showcased his talent on prestigious stages, performing opera classics and starring in Broadway musicals across major cities such as NYC, L.A., Boston, Philadelphia, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.
Career
His early career was in finance and corporate law, holding positions with Mellon Bank, Wachovia Financial Services, Leaf Financial Corporation, IKON Office Solutions, and Merit Capital.
Mitchell Coles is the founder and CEO of Monarca Food Group, Inc., managing restaurants, eateries, cafes, and food carts. Focused on quality and diversity, MFG connects people through food, promoting cross-cultural engagement.
Coles co-founded Arbol Eatery in Uptown Charlotte, recognized for its fresh ingredients and globally inspired menu. Under his leadership, Arbol Eatery has become a hub for the community, offering corporate catering and hosting cross-cultural events.
Coles owns Mitch Coles Real Estate, Inc., which empowers investors through strategic acquisitions and education. His firm provides services in brokerage, title, escrow, lending, and insurance. He is also committed to community development, exemplified by the JCBOH, which offers transitional housing for individuals reintegrating into society after long-term incarceration.
Legal and Advocacy Work
With experience in corporate law, civil litigation, criminal defense, appellate law, family law, and tax law, Coles uses his legal background to strengthen his business ventures. As a Guardian ad Litem, he advocates for children and families, while supporting marginalized communities.
